Alberto Castiel, M.D., FAAFP is a Board Certified Family Physician
who has been practicing family medicine for 30+ years and treats a wide variety of illnesses and conditions.
He was born and raised in Manhattan, New York City and received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree at St. John’s University also in New York. He later trained at the University of Florida Family Medicine Residency. His focus is on prevention of Chronic Diseases, Diabetes, and the Cardiovascular Diseases.
At the office he also treats sports medicine injuries, and provides standard internal medicine care. We also attend to acute illnesses.
Dr. Castiel enjoys teaching and lectures all over the U.S. on various disease topics and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Florida School of Medicine, Florida State University School of Medicine, and Nova Southeastern University School of Physician Assistants. The patients of Global Family Care are in incredibly qualified hands under the watch of Dr. Castiel.
He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
In his recreational life he has a passion for all sports especially racquetball, tennis, pickleball motorcycling, working out, and scuba diving which sparked his interest in Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care.
Alexander Pena, PA-C, ATC is a nationally certified physician assistant with Global Family Care. He was born in Boston, but spent most of his childhood in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.
Seeing his father’s dedication and enjoyment in being a primary care doctor inspired him to pursue a career in the medical field. Alex’s passion for sports and medicine led him to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training at the University of Central Florida.
He obtained 3 years of experience as an athletic trainer working with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. However, athletic training left him longing for more which is when he decided to pursue a career as a physician assistant. Alex received his Master of Science degree in physician assistant at Nova Southeastern University-Jacksonville.
Alex’s academic interests are preventive medicine, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and orthopedic/sports medicine. In his leisure time he enjoys watching baseball, basketball, football, and soccer as well as traveling, working out, movies, and reading.
For years, Dr. Castiel has dedicated himself to the well-being of the Jacksonville Icemen's hockey team as their devoted team doctor.
